Services For Young People (11-25-year-olds)

The Youth Climate Solutions Internship Programme is a 3-month unpaid placement for 18-25-year-olds looking to gain practical work experience or university students who have it as part of their course. 

Over the period, interns will work in groups to research, design and develop their own projects that align with their chosen degree/ career path. An example of this might be an environmental science student using companion or vertical farming techniques to create community farms in urban areas or a media student developing a marketing campaign for climate education. 

They will have a small budget and will be expected to work in teams to fundraise, manage their finances and make the project cost-efficient and sustainable. They will also have access to our network and resources to help with their research. 

Students will leave with critical research, problem-solving, collaborative working and leadership skills, connections to our network of policymakers, industry leaders and academics and being the creators/founders of a climate action project. 

The Youth Climate Solutions Work Experience Programme aims to give young people (16–20-year-olds) real experience in climate-centred careers. From renewables to conservation, ethical business practices to politics and policy, we co-create programmes with local professionals from a wide variety of careers and give young people the opportunity to experience climate action in all its forms. 

The programmes will last 1-2 weeks and may be one-to-one or in a group depending on interest and will involve both work with a local organisation or individual and workshops in a classroom environment online or in person. 

The workshops will focus on problem-solving, teamwork and leadership within Climate Action and each day/ topic will involve looking at theory, actors, policy, drivers, impacts and solutions, specific to the student’s chosen career stream.

Youth Climate Solutions Summer School Programme is a 2-week programme aimed at 16–20-year-olds focusing on problem-solving, teamwork and leadership within Climate Action. 

Each day/ topic will involve looking at theory, actors, policy, drivers, impacts and solutions. They will also involve a mixture of group work and individual work all leading up to the final assignment. 

The final assignment could be a policy brief, a project pitch, an issue map, or a piece of artwork/poetry/writing/play/music etc. Students then receive a mark and a certificate.

We also aim to have a few guest speakers to discuss some of these topics from a first-hand perspective.
