About Trish Debicka- Social Media Intern

My name is Trish, and I'm a third year politics student at the University of East Anglia (UEA), currently working as a social media intern for Youth Climate Solutions (YCS). In this role, I contribute to the development and delivery of our marketing strategy across multiple platforms, aiming to raise awareness and foster engagement with our mission of promoting a sustainable future via youth-led climate action. 

I've always been passionate about social justice and sustainability, which has fuelled my academic interests as a politics student. Working with YCS allows me to combine my creative strengths with my commitment to social causes, providing me with a space to create content for an organisation that aligns with my values.  

Beyond YCS, I work part-time at a residential care home in my hometown of Harrogate. This role has undoubtedly shaped my interpersonal skills as I've frequently found myself comforting residents in moments of vulnerability, and learning to calmly and appropriately respond to emotionally difficult situations. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain composed under pressure and connect with people from all walks of life, which are qualities that I bring into all aspects of my work. 

My hobbies are largely centred around music, including music production, DJing, and events organising. As the president of the UEA Electronic Music Society, I've put together various events for my society, from free parties to collaborative charity DJ clashes. I was also a social media assistant for the UEA Big Free Concert, where I helped with creating digital promotional materials and painting physical banners for the day. I love art and graphic design, and have an extensive portfolio of artwork and posters I've made for various events and artists.  

I'm very excited to put these skills to use in an organisation that prioritises climate justice and youth empowerment. Whether it be behind the decks or managing a social media campaign, I take pride in bringing positive energy, effective organisation, empathy and creativity to the table. My goal is to keep learning, collaborating, and building on my strengths so that I can contribute meaningfully to the causes that matter to me. Working with YCS is a crucial step in this journey, and I'm looking forward to learning from the many opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
